An Irish Night – Easter 1916 Remembered
March 23, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
The Perth Chamber Orchestra will host a centenary concert in memoriam of the group of men who began a rebellion at the GPO Building in Dublin, setting in motion a series of events that would eventually lead to Ireland’s independence from Britain.
The performance will bring this remarkable tale to life with a program of classical and traditional Irish music incorporating film and images to weave a detailed tapestry of events.
In a show of welcoming Irish hospitality, guests will be offered a complimentary glass of wine on arrival, as well as light refreshments.
Whiskey, Guinness and wines will also be available for purchase throughout the evening.
Program highlights for the evening will include the “Adagietto” from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, The Women of Ireland, The Children of 1916, The Foggy Dew, She Walked through the Fair, and Paddy McCarthy – made famous by a cover by The Corrs in 1997.
