England skipper Eoin Morgan has copped some stick for not singing God Save The Queen before matches.

TV personality Piers Morgan has hit out at his namesake Eoin – England’s cricket skipper – for not singing God Save The Queen.

Dubliner Eoin Morgan has copped some criticism from Irish fans for choosing to represent England but now he’s copping it from the English side too.

After England’s win over Scotland in Christchurch yesterday, Piers Morgan tweeted: “And if you want to captain England, @Eoin16 – then sing the damn national anthem, too.”

But Eoin Morgan has received some support from former England football superstar Gary Lineker, who declared: “I used to hate singing it. Still do. Mainly because I’m hideously bad. Don’t understand why it’s important.”

He later tweeted: “Not everyone is comfortable singing. Some do, some don’t. Doesn’t alter performance.”
