Drawn from all periods of Australian history, the list showcases the contribution Irish immigrants and their descendants have made to this country.
The list is included in the current print edition of the Irish Echo – on sale today (east coast) and Monday (SA and WA) – which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the newspaper.
More than one million Irish nationals have migrated to Australia since 1788.
The Top 100 includes six prime ministers, six state premiers, a governor general and two chief justices. It includes inspirational characters from the worlds of film, sport, literature, business, philanthropy and the law as well as the odd bushranger.
We also honour some the current wave of Irish immigrants who have made a conspicuous contribution to their adopted country.
