The mother of Irishwoman Jill Meagher has thanked the public for their support.
Edith McKeon also appealed for more CCTV cameras to be installed in the suburb where her 29-year-old daughter went missing in Melbourne, Australia, last Saturday.
“I would like to thank the huge support here in Melbourne, it’s just been unbelievable. Just thank you, simply thank you.” Ms McKeon has said.
“And I hope they put more cameras in here to keep people safe. And just thank you everybody, everybody for all your support.”
Ms Meagher’s body was discovered last Friday in a shallow grave at Gisbourne South, about 50km from where she vanished.
Tens of thousands of people gathered in Melbourne yesterday for a peace march in memory of Ms Meagher.
Police in Melbourne charged 41-year-old Adrian Ernest Bayley with the rape and murder of Ms Meagher, from Drogheda, Co Louth.
